Get a push on/push off toggle type switch at the hardware store that will fit inside the gutted housing. Make sure to get a switch that has a threaded body and jam nut for bulkhead type mounting. Enlarge the hole in the back of the housing so that the switch can be secured to it.

Any car with a simple key-activated ignition switch has a kill switch already. The problem is that a kill switch would cut power to the power steering and brakes. Motorcycles have an engine cut-off switch because they don’t have power steering, and many smaller bikes don’t have power brakes.
